Product Description
As the AT-50A has gotten older, it has not aged gracefully. We no longer recommend the AT-50A for a new Transponder installation.
The Narco AT-50, AT-50A, and AT-150 are all directly interchangeable. If you have one of these Transponders, and want to minimize the installation effort, we strongly recommend the AT-150 over the other Narco choices. While still an old Transponder, it offers better reliability than either the AT-50 or AT-50A.
The Narco AT-50A is a very common transponder, and is an upgrade of the original AT-50. The AT-50A offers basic transponder functionality at a reduced cost (compared to King and Collins). The AT-50A features:
- 250 watts of transmission power
- 4096 discrete codes
- Mode C compatibility
- TSO'd
You may also be interested in an Encoder to use with this AT-50A. When installed with an Encoder, the AT-50A will report both your position and altitude to ATC (Mode C).
