Product Description
Unlike the "regular" GTX-330 Transponder, the GTX-330ES offers ADS-B Out capability and will meet the 2020 mandate. The GTX-330ES transmits using the 1090 MHz Extended Squitter (1090ES) standard. 1090 MHz Extended Squitter (1090ES) Transmitters are permitted at any altitude and required above 18,000 feet. They are also required for operation in Class A airspace. These avionics tend to be both more capable and more expensive.
Please note that the GTX-330ES does not contain a GPS Receiver. It must be connected to a WAAS GPS Navigator to obtain a GPS position fix. This information is needed to provide the aircraft's current location to other ADS-B users.
If you do not have a WAAS GPS Navigator installed in your aircraft, the following are good options. The best choice will depend upon your budget, other installed avionics, and available space in your radio stack:
- Garmin GNS-430W WAAS GPS
- Garmin GNS-530W WAAS GPS
- Garmin GTN-650 WAAS GPS
- Garmin GTN-750 WAAS GPS

- Garmin GPS-400W WAAS IFR-Approach GPS / Moving Map
- Garmin GPS-500W WAAS IFR-Approach GPS / Moving Map
