Product Description
As the KMA-26 has gotten older, it has not aged gracefully. We no longer recommend the KMA-26 for a new Audio Panel installation.
If you are considering a new Audio Panel installation, we strongly recommend you consider the Garmin GMA-340 instead. The GMA-340 is a better and more reliable radio, for less money, with much better service prospects.
If you are replacing a KMA-26 with problems, then your choice is more complicated. Audio Panels are relatively expensive to install (as a percentage of the purchase price) because this is where all the wires come together. If you don't want to spend the time and money installing another Audio Panel, then a replacement KMA-26 may be the best choice for you.
Please note that the vast majority of KMA-26 Audio Panels have the letters (text) worn off some of the buttons. Unfortunately, replacement buttons are no longer available from Honeywell.
If you decide to purchase a KMA-26, and it develops problems, it will require some patience on your part. The KMA-26 is challenging to repair due to a lack of spare parts and factory support. We will try to keep your downtime to a minimum, but we may not be able to eliminate it.
The King KMA-26 includes both a Marker Beacon Receiver and an Intercom in one compact chassis, plus an amplifier to drive a cabin speaker!
The Marker Beacon section contains the standard three lamp display, and the tone may be temporarily muted once a beacon is detected. The sensitivity may also be adjusted to "Hi" or "Lo", and there is a self-test function.
The six-place intercom has the flexibility to isolate the pilot or both crew from the passengers, allowing each group to communicate without distracting the other. Entertainment audio is automatically muted so you don't miss any communication.
The KMA-26 uses any of nine switch inputs, and four unswitched inputs. As a "fail-safe" measure, the EMG switch position connects the pilot to "COM1", ensuring your ability to communicate.
