NAV/COMM with 8.33 kHz tuning
It is now a requirement to use a COMM Transceiver with 8.33 kHz tuning in much of Europe. This change is designed to allow more frequencies (and simultaneous conversations) within the allotted radio frequency spectrum.
These radios offer either native 8.33 kHz tuning or an option to select the narrower frequency spacing via a software configuration setting.
A NAV/COMM combines a Navigation Receiver and Communication Transceiver in one unit. A dual-function NAV/COMM has some advantages over a separate NAV Receiver and COMM Transceiver.
A NAV/COMM radio is generally less expensive to buy and install than dedicated NAV and COMM radios. A NAV/COMM usually requires less panel space, and may offer some additional operating convenience. On the downside, a problem with either the NAV or the COMM function requires the entire radio be removed for repair.
As a general rule, we think the NAV/COMM compromise is a good idea, and our customers agree. These are some of the most popular radios in our inventory.
If you are looking for a NAV/COMM with 8.33 kHz tuning that is not listed here, please click to send us an email. If we don't have it in stock, we can find it for you!
