The Sigtronics SPA-400 is an effective, low-cost 4-place intercom. It offers voice-activated operation, which eliminates "hot mike" background noise.

This very compact intercom requires just 2-1/2" by 1-1/16" of panel space, and it may be mounted either horizontally or vertically. Additionally, a round faceplate available from Sigtronics permits mounting in a 2-1/4" instrument hole. With all these options, the SPA-400 can fit in virtually any cockpit.

The SPA-400 transmits through your existing COMM radio(s). Either the pilot or co-pilot may transmit, although they must do so one-at-a-time.

When flying solo, the intercom is not needed, and may be simply turned off. If fact, this ability takes advantage of the SPA-400's "fail-safe" feature. In the event of a problem, simply turn it off to be connected directly to your COMM.
